Julia Seemann

Julia Seemann’s recent collection, Another Composition, embraces hints of Dutch Artist Piet Mondrian’s oil paintings of the late 1920’s — early 1940’s. Using a stark palette of primary colors, she creates a high-volume collection of bold art that transgresses into wearable fashion.
Her pieces deconstruct work-wear to enable femininity through harsh textures of leather, vinyl and denim. While deconstructing, she brings geometric form to the body, cloaking and revealing her wearer. Giving sensuality and elegance, Seemann adds an edgy twist of sharp lines with the use of funky fabrics and prints, while seamlessly socializing different color schemes and textures onto one garment.
Seemann is based in Switzerland, and recently graduated in 2014 from the Acedemy of Art and Design in Basel with high honors at the Institute of Fashion Design. Since graduation she has been apart of the Vfile’s MADE fashion show AW15 in New York City and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days Zurich 2014 show. A day after her debut at the AW15 Vfile’s MADE fashion show, A-List celebrity Rihanna was pictured walking into the Kanye West X Adidas show, wearing Julia Seemann.
Julia Seemann sends an invitation to a chic garden party, with accessories of holographic sun hats and large vinyl gloves that rise against the elbow. Seemann works with strategic layering to induce a sense of contemporary architecture to combine minimalism with the avant-garde. But the most intriguing aspects of Seemann’s work showcases the balance between minimalism that is thrilling.
